Jamila Woods, Georgia O’Keeffe Explains to Her Husband What a Flower Is
I do not nail my paintings
above the bathroom sink
and confuse them with the mirror.
I do not squat naked in red paint
and hump the paper.
This is not upskirt acrylic.
The text version of this poems opens with the O’Keeffe quote: “You write about my flower as if I think and see what you think and see of the flower and I don’t.”
